Sink, Sunk, Sank

Shopping and researching sinks.
Thanks goodness for cousin Mary, the girl is a fountain of information. She told me about Houzer sinks and I just got off the website....after running around all day yesterday and not coming up with a single thing - here we go.
The whole sink thing has been a bit confusing for me. I think I know what I don't want - but I'm not sure what I do want.
The groovy new kitchen will have two sinks! After having a washer and dryer in the kitchen for almost thirty years I'm getting ritzy. Since the water pipes are already in the wall on that side of the kitchen I figured I should take advantage of the situation and have a designated clean-up zone.
So...I like this one.
Does anybody have any advice for me? I hand wash my wine glasses and delicate china and crystal...thought the built-in drainboard was a cool feature.
Yay?
Nay?

Surfing for Surfaces

So...I've finally tweaked the kitchen cabinet design for the last time - they're ordered! Yikes.
New dishwasher and fridge - chosen and ordered.
Next up?
Floors and counters...
Plain Jane, practical and economical farm girl that I am ...I'm seriously leaning toward Formica.
I don't drive a foreign car, don't have any fancy high heels like Manolo's or Jimmy Choos...never has a fancy handbag caught my fancy.
Since I've never done this before I'm trying to challenge my own thought process. Will I be sorry I didn't take the big leap and go for the granite?

I'd love some advice, Formica? Granite? Tile? Composite?

Next week...flooring...oh, I'm going to miss my curling 70's linoleum...
Yaaa..right.

Circus Circus!

More paint fantasy...ooo la la!
Now this is just plain fun, the ceiling treatment looks like a circus tent to me. I'm having visions of painting the ceiling of the party barn to look like this...just dreaming though, there is no stinkin' way I'm going to spend that much time on a ladder, this circus clown is too dang old for that....bummer.

My Fave Designer

So, a few nights ago I had crazy dreams about remodeling and cranky designers. The one designer that wasn't in the dream, a designer that I know in real life, my faaaave designer and lovely pal Jenny.
This girl has more creativity in her little finger than I have in my whole body. It's always so much fun to go to her house because she never runs out of ideas...it's like a crazy magic design fun-house. And it's pretty....oh so pretty.
A few years ago Jenny moved into an old farmhouse that needed a lot of work, of course Jenny grabbed a crowbar and got right to it. Well, the house is about finished so she needed to go someplace with all of that creative energy.
May I present...drum roll please....
The Duck Dock in Jenny's pond.

Every time I look at this photo I crack up. I dream about building stuff like this - the cool thing about Jenny is, she dreams it...and then she does it.

Love that girl.
