Bluebird of Happiness

Every spring these little guys are everywhere I look when I'm working at the cabin.
So cute, and sooo blue!
I wish I could get good pictures of them...they're so busy, snacking, fluttering, pecking at the bird seed I scatter for them. I don't have a snazzy camera so the odds of getting a good shot are pretty slim even if the little guys sat still for a photo-op.
I'll just enjoy them while I do my spring chores, I guess they're not the only ones who can't sit still for a good shot.
It's spring... the list of chores is long!
Things are growing and blooming.
Happy blogging garden girl ;)

Raccoon Rascals

The mystery of the muddy pawprints has finally been solved. All winter I've been noticing muddy paw prints on the lawn furniture that is stored out in the barn, I couldn't figure out who the dirty rotter could be. The prints were too large for a cat..unless it was a verrrry large kitty. Possum? No. Puppy? No, if she's in the barn she's running around...not sitting on furniture.
Yesterday I was playing around on my computer and something caught my eye out in the front yard, two raccoons were running around like they didn't have a care in the world, last week it was a coyote, this week raccoons....next week?

V is for Vandals

"all creatures great and small"

V is for vandals...garden vandals that is. A few days ago I was on this blog whining about the bunnies eating my arugula and nibbling on the peas. I take it back...
Yesterday, as I was out weeding in the veggie patch, naughty puppy was not too far away from me...sniffing, running, playing....doin' the stuff that puppies do.

The Husband came out back and called out to her to see if she wanted to go for a ride to town, Puppy Girl loooves to go for rides. She came-a-runnin', full blast...with a baby bunny in her mouth! Acckkkk! She dropped that bunny faster than a hot rock, "heck with the bunny mannn...I wanna go to town!"

I ran over to where she dropped the poor bunny and I picked it up. Those are my lovely blue garden gloves in the photo...surgical gloves....I swear by 'em.

Anywhoooo....I took bunny's picture, and then put bunny back where puppy was playing in the long grass. There was a fuzzy bunny nest over there, I sure hope she survives all that puppy/people trauma.

I'm off to plant some more arugula for her....I hear she and her family really like it. Hmmmm....I wonder if I should plant some more peas as well.

Dept. of Fish & Game

Hey buddy, you got a fishin' license? We call this guy Dirty Harry the Heron, he thinks our fish pond is just for him. I used to have 352 fish, I think we're down to about 50 thanks to this greedy goose. There is a net on the pond now but that doesn't always stop him. I stood on the front porch and took his picture...didn't phase the silly bird. Then he decided to take a cruise around the lawn, perhaps to aid in the digestion of his lunch.

Stopped to scratch an itch, completely ignoring me.

I finally scared him away and what does the doofus do? He stands in the road! I don't like him eating my fish but I don't want to be responsible for him getting hit by a car.

Ok....there ya go, saunter down into the ditch, catch yourself a nice tasty trout. I think you really like trout a lot better than Koi or goldfish. Remember that.
