One of the first things on my "to do" list in the spring
is cut back the old growth on the ferns. If I wait
too long, I risk snapping off some of the delicate new
growth... when these fronds first emerge they're
incredibly tender.
I love watching them unfurl...it's the dance of the ferns.
Speaking of dancing, check out Quilldancer for other alphabet
photo challenge participants.

I do love a fern.. there is such expectation ..
Such pretty photos. Love ferns.
I LOVE ferns - they remind me so much of growing up on Lake Whatcom - ferns, ferns everywhere. My elementary school steps were bordered by ferns bigger than me (at the time). Oh beautiful ferns. :)
Love your caption! Try to say that five times fast, huh. LOL!!!
Interesting pictures :)
O! Those are FURRY fronds too! Cool!
Oh! And by the way! Guess what I just HAPPENED to find at this silly little May Day Festival I went to on Sunday? ON SALE -- 3 for $1 - Arugula plants!!! I got 3! Can't wait to taste it! :)
Oh! I almosty posted ferns and I am so glad now that I didn't. Your ferns put mine to shame!
Wow, the detail in those shots, awesome! Great macro shots!
Hey Shelly~
I have just looked at all your Alphabet Photo posts and they are all super.
I love the ferns - after being gone six days mine are huge so I missed most of the unfurling. I loved how you said, "the dance of the ferns" - wonderful imagery in those words.
This one is perfect! "Fabulous Fern Fronds Unfurling"! Oh, I wish I had come up with that. It sounds just the way the ferns look. And your pictures are wonderful!
I love how you got in close here. You did a great job capturing these images. :)
