Gardens and Art

Yesterday I posted about the garden tour we went on over the weekend. I'm planning a few more posts about the tour...I have garden-tour-itis, hope you do too!
The first garden that we went to was down a long driveway with a wildflower meadow...full of multi-colored poppies, lupine, and grasses. I knew right then we were in for a treat.

Several artists had their work displayed in this garden, this was my favorite piece...I really like glass in the garden. This one is my favorite and it's only $3000 bucks, hey...my birthday is coming up...hint hint.

This metal art made every person that walked by it smile...whimsical...anndddd recycled!

These flags were all over the garden, it was a beautiful breezy day and they were all different colors and sizes.... made for a fun, party atmosphere.

The extremely rare blue bottleicus treeicus. These always crack me up, I have a few of these blue bottles around the farm, I think I would have a hard time selling this idea to The Husband. Oh....and check out the view of the harbor!

This garden had every plant one could imagine, really colorful combinations and great winding paths.

Check out the water feature by the front door! Wowza! Everywhere you looked in this garden there was a feature...mosaics on the walls, on the ground, art hanging on posts in the garden and on the house, mirrors in several places to reflect different features...it really was amazing.

I call these dinosaur eggs. The first time I saw one was on a garden tour in Seattle a couple of years ago, ever since then I've wanted to make one to put in my garden....the list of "I wanna" projects for my garden is um.... long ;)

At the very back edge of the garden was this path, 50 steps down to the beach and a jungle hut! Oh mannn...decisions decisions. I decided not to make the trek...I spent a few hours at the chiropractor this past week, I'm not taking any chances.
I have so many more photos of this garden but I think I'll save them for another post.
Happy gardening!

Since I am not there to see it all flow together, it seems rather mish-mashed and cluttered. How big was this garden?

I really like these pieces of art! Very cool. The first one is my favorite as well, from all that you show here.

Quilly - The garden was really big and there was a lotttt going on...you're right. Everywhere you looked there was a creative feature, and then there were all of the art installations....it was crazy but fun, although a bit too much "stuff" for my taste. The next garden we went to had so many goo-gaws I hardly took any pictures. I came home and looked at my yard...decided I'm very dull.

J Fargo - The piece we both like was really beautiful...I don't have the kind of dinero to throw at an object that doesn't "do" something ....although I was truly taken with it. Heck, I wouldn't even spend that much money on a household appliance that I used every day.

Jerrie - Me too...loooove water...have ever since I was a kid. The feature was huge, and really made a statement.

I like the art and structures. I guess that's my goal now is to keep adding unexpected art in my own yard. The water feature looks cool. A bit too large scale for me though.

$3,000 smackers? You can probably make something of your own you'd like better!

Oh Wow! It's one o'clock in the morning here and I want to go outside and decorate a flowerbed!

This was enjoyable. I love the blue bottle arrangement - I guess I'm weird that way. It seems fitting by the harbor.

What a great garden. It has everything except a train. Your pictures are grand as well.

You got some great pictures here. But your "rare blue bottleicus treeicus" had me cracking up. That was great!

When I lived in the UK, I went to loads of open garden tours. Some were so elegant and some were just charming. Others had so many bits and pieces and loads going on that you lost sight of what the garden was really about.
