The August Freak Out

It happens every August, the freak out. I walk around the farm and I see all of those projects I had such high hopes for. Painting the barn, redoing a bit of lawn, fix the pond, trim the hedges...blah blah blah, there just isn't enough time left in the summer to do it all.

I took this photo of my garlic last week.
I don't harvest my garlic, I just watch it grow...I know I'm not supposed to let it flower like this but they're just so stinking cute. I really wanted to pick the scapes and use them is some kind of fancy dish, maybe even pickle some - I have a recipe saved on my computer.
Shucks, another thing to add to the August freak-out list.
The old Shelly wouldn't have taken this photo, at least I can share the pretty flowering garlic with blog-land..hey man, I might even dig some up tomorrow, you just never know.

I can't believe I'm saying this - that GARLIC is beautiful!
Garlic - who knew except you!
Great photo of it.

I love garlic flowers, but you don't want to add them to a bouquet unless a vampire is coming for dinner. However, they make lovely potato soup garnish. Have you ever tasted one? Yup. Garlic.

Oh, they're pretty in salad, too!

I love garlic. But I would let it bloom too. Just too pretty not to.

Beautiful! You know you can sell that to a floral wholesaler and make some money!

I never knew garlic had such beautiful flowers. I want to grow some now. I think this is supposed to be planted in fall? Great picture

I never knew garlic flowered like that either!

I'm freaking out a bit too if that makes you feel any better. I started a major purge and re-organize the basement. This includes my office, the seasonal closet (decor for all holidays) - and a huge room full of boxes of misc. and more misc.

So now I have crap all over the place and don't know what I'm doing lol
