Best Veggie Dip Ever

Yes my friends...I said best ever. I've had this recipe for almost thirty years and I've tried lots of others, this one is by far...the winnnaaaa!
I got the recipe from one of my high school girlfriends way back in the olden days, she got it from her mom, who got it from one of her friends....hey...that's what happens with the good ones...everyone clamors for them.
It is with a heavy heart and a fair amount of sadness that I post this, the last of my wicked favorites...at least for a good long while.
Why, you ask? Cuz I'm gettin' too darned fat, it's time to face the music. I won't be whisking any roux, brulee-ing any cremes, there will be no rolling of dough or browning of butter. What I'm hoping for is the zipping of jeans without crossing of eyes or holding of breath...yeah...it's that sad.
I was IMing this morning with my cousin who lives back east, she's more like a sister than a cousin. She's been eating really healthy for the last two months and feels like a million bucks. I remember when she started this new healthy way of eating...she even encouraged me to join her....I was having a delightful time here floating down the lovely river of DeNial. We've done this whole healthy eating thing together in the past with great success. Now she's successing the heck out of me and I'm sitting here in my too-tight dungarees...waaaaa! She feels fabulous....and I feel fat-ulous.
Before I launch myself into the land of steamed broccoli, poached chicken and black coffee (yes...after 15 years of lattes and capuccinos I....gasssspppp...will be drinking my coffee black) I leave you with this...one of my favorite wicked indulgences. Go ahead and eat your veggies..enjoy!

VEGGIE DIP

2/3 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon Lawry's salt
1 teaspoon dill weed
1 teaspoon Accent
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
4 drops Tabasco

Mix all ingredients together and chill for two hours before serving with fresh raw veggies

I made this by request for Easter Sunday brunch at moms...we call it "our" dip, even though we didn't have a darn thing to do with creating this recipe.

I can't believe you're finally sharing the recipe! Yay! In the meantime, here is a diet veggie dip trick I got from a friend who got it from Weight Watchers...etc.
Anyways, throw a tub of cottage cheese into the blender with the usual spices and give it a whirl. It is weigh(pun) less fattening and it is really good. I do not recommend black coffee, that is really not a lifestyle change you or anyone else should have to make, go low fat and you'll be able to go the distance. Good Luck! Anytime you want to walk, call me.

I agree with Tami on the coffee thing - go low fat and you still get some calcium! :)

I have been making the healthy eating change as well...My cousin (also like my sister) is a personal trainer/healthy person and sends me good info (I will share).

You need to make my oatmeal. It is super good. I LOVE it! :)

Wow guys, thanks for the encouragement. I'm going no salt, no fat, no bread, no pasta, no beef and no dairy (eeekkksss) for the first few weeks. Let's see if I can make it through the first day without my cappuccino. Hmmm.

You Starbucks fans should switch to some good herbal teas. Easier on your whole system. Try the green tea varieties. They are supposed to be good for the waistline.
Your recipe sounds real good, but I make my own mayo in the blender. It has a superb flavor and really enhances anything you use it in. If you want it, guess I'll have to post it on my blog. Just got mine started yesterday so will take a few days to get pix posted and all. I'm Val's mom.

Hi just found your dip recipe sounds great. Just read other users comments about losing weight. Have you heard of the Eat Clean Diet by tosca Reno? I've been doing it about 10 days now and already noticing the inches coming off without any exersize unless you consider raising 4 kids plenty of exersize on it's own. anyways, thought it might go along with what you already wanted to try but some recipes involved. We've been using her kid/family cookbook and loved most everything so far. Good luck and thanks for sharing this recipe to "clean it up" I'm going to use Tosca's yogurt cheese (yogurt strained overnight that has a sourcream effect) and packed with protein - Yogurt has like 10-13grams of protein. I never knew that! Okay again, good luck.

I made this for the Thanksgiving relish tray tomorrow and I couldn't stop eating it. I made a double batch as it is I may have to make some more before the night is out. Thank you so much for sharing this. I agree, best veggie dip I've ever had.

Many wishes for success on your path to healthier eating. Just wanted to mention that I was also way heavier than I wanted to be last year. So I went Vegetarian in January and am currently 99% transitioned to Vegan. My husband and I have not felt this good in a long time. We've lost 60 lbs between the 2 of us. I reached my goal weight of 120 lbs in June with very little effort. My psoriasis is gone and I even breathe better. Its almost impossible not to loss weight when you're eliminating dairy, egg and meat. Its fun and easy to cook Vegan as well since the numerous blogs on the internet are an amazing resource. However you go about it, I wish you all the very best of luck!

This looks great, however did you know that Accent is MSG? I was shocked to learn this a few years ago as we used it in our favorite salsa :(
